The Connector Validation Settings dialog is used to define validation rules for connecting elements together with connectors. The dialog can be opened from the Modeling Options Dialog and the Connector Type Dialog by clicking the Settings button under the Connections check box.

When the Use default settings check box is selected for a connector type, the connector type will then use the model level validation settings defined in the Modeling Options Dialog.

The dialog lists all the element types in the model in a matrix. A selection in a cell on the matrix indicates that a connector starting from an element of the element type shown on the row and ending into an element of the element type shown on the column is a valid connection.

In the following example, a connector may start from an Activity element and go to any of the shown element types, but if the connector starts from a Decision element, it can't go to a Subprocess element:

If a connector is drawn from a Decision to a Subprocess element, a validation error will be shown if the Connections validation is enabled in the Modeling Options Dialog.
