Defining Languages for Multilingual Modeling and Translating the Model Name

Organizations with operations in many different countries often face difficulties with communicating the processes to personnel speaking different languages. Maintaining separate models for different languages is burdensome and prone for errors, and therefore QPR Modeling Client provides a possibility to define translations for model elements

BTN_AR131. Open the Multilingual Modeling Exercise file model and save it as a server model.
BTN_AR132. On the Model tab of the ribbon, click on Modeling Options. The Modeling Options dialog will open.
BTN_AR133. Switch to the Modeling Languages tab.
BTN_AR134. Check the Enable multilingual modeling checkbox.
BTN_AR135. Click the New... button. The Language Properties dialog will open.
BTN_AR136. Insert the name of the language into the Name field. In this exercise we'll use Finnish.
BTN_AR137. Enter a unique language code for the language into the Language code field. In this exercise we'll use FIN.
BTN_AR138. Enter an optional description into the Description field.
BTN_AR139. Select English (UK) as the secondary language in the Secondary language drop-down menu.
BTN_AR1310. Select a user interface language in the Corresponding user interface language drop-down menu. This setting affects only diagram images generated in QPR Portal and does not have any effect in the QPR Modeling Client.
BTN_AR1311. The language definition is now ready and the Language Properties dialog should look somewhat as in the picture below. Click OK to close the dialog.

BTN_AR1312. Click OK to close the Modeling Options dialog.
BTN_AR1313. On the Model tab of the ribbon, click on Properties. The Model Properties dialog will open.
BTN_AR1314. On the General tab, click the Translation button btn_translation. The Translation dialog will open.
BTN_AR1315. Enter translations for the model name and description into the row marked for Finnish:

BTN_AR1316. Click OK to close the dialog and go to the diagram view.
BTN_AR1317. Double click the process step on the diagram to open the process step properties dialog.
BTN_AR1318. Click the Translation button btn_translation. The Translation dialog will open. Enter "Tama malli on tyhja" as the Finnish translation of the name of the process step. Click OK and again OK to close the process step properties dialog.
BTN_AR1319. Click the Modeling language button on the status bar in the bottom left area of the QPR Modeling Client window and select Finnish:

BTN_AR1318. Notice how the model name displayed in the diagram title and the process step name change to the translated version. You can use the Translation button btn_translation to translate the translatable contents of any window in which you can see the button.
