The Modeling Options window allows you to work with element types, linked element types, and shape types. You can access the Modeling Options window by clicking the Modeling Options button on the Model tab of the ribbon. Every element belongs to an element type and every linked element belongs to a linked element type. In order to add free shapes to the Hierarchy Views and the Dashboards view, shape types need to be defined. Element types and linked element types provide categories to which the elements and linked elements you create can belong to. Shape types define a common appearance for freely definable shapes that can be added to the Hierarchy Views and the Dashboards view.

 

The Modeling Options window contains the Element types tab, Linked element types tab, and the Shape types tab.

 

Element Types Tab

In the Element types tab, you can create, delete, copy or edit element types.
