Sub-elements are any elements that appear below another element. Sub-elements always use data that you have entered or imported into them.
There are two kinds of elements: compilation elements and sub-elements. All elements that appear below another element are sub-elements of that element. The compilation element is based on the data provided by the sub-elements below it. An element can act as a compilation element and a sub-element at the same time, if it has an element above it and an element (or elements) below it.
Two sub-elements are measuring sales figures. The information found in the sub-elements is passed to the above compilation element, which calculates the average of the sales figures as a result. In a scorecard with lots of elements, the top-most top element can show you an overall view based on all the information sourced from the sub-elements below it.
