The QPR Add-In for Microsoft Office is a Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) extension for Microsoft Word. With the help of the add-in you can create reports from data contained in the QPR system without the need to have any other QPR client applications on the workstation.

This guide is meant to be used as a hands-on introduction to the features of QPR Add-In for Microsoft Office. The aim of the exercises in this guide is to automate the creation of the hand built QPR Add-In for Microsoft Office Training Guide Hand Built Report.docx found in the <QPR package root>\Tutorials\QPR Add-In for Microsoft Office folder as far as possible. For completing the exercises found in this guide, QPR server components and QPR Web Services Foundation (later referred as QPR web service) need to be installed and running on the local computer.

Before doing the exercises, the training model used in the exercises needs to be imported to the QPR Metrics database. To import the model, do the following:

1.In QPR Metrics, from the Application menu, select Manage > Import. The "Select an import file" window appears.

2.Go to the Tutorials sub-folder and select the 'QPR Add-In For Microsoft Office Training Model'.

3.In the Name for the model field, type the name "QPR Add-In for Microsoft Office Training Model".

4.Click OK.

The <QPR package root>\Tutorials\QPR Add-In for Microsoft Office folder contains the example templates for the exercises in each chapter.
