This section describes the operations related to shapes.

 

 

Creating Shape Types

At least one shape type needs to be defined before shapes can be added. To create a shape type, follow the steps below:

 

1.Open the Modeling Options Window.
2.Change to the Shape Types tab.
3.Click the New button.
4.Define name and description for the shape type and click the OK button.
5.Click the layout button. The Symbol Layout Window opens.
6.Define layout for the shape and click the OK button. The shape can now be added to the Scorecard View and the Strategy Map View.

 

 

Modifying Shape Types

To modify a previously defined shape type, follow the steps below:

 

1.Open the Modeling Options Window.
2.Change to the Shape Types tab.
3.Select the shape type you want to modify.
4.If you wish to modify the name and/or the description, click the Properties button.
5.Make the desired changes to the name and description for the shape type and click the OK button.
6.If you wish to modify the shape type's layout, click the layout button. The Symbol Layout window opens.
7.Define layout for the shape and click the OK button. The shape can now be added to the Scorecard View and the Strategy Map View.

 

 

Deleting Shape Types

To delete a previously defined shape type, follow the steps below:

 

1.Open the Modeling Options Window.
2.Change to the Shape Types tab.
3.Select the shape type you want to delete.
4.Click the Delete button.

 

 

Adding Shapes to Scorecard View and Strategy Map

To add a shape to the Scorecard View or to the Strategy Map View, follow the steps below:

 

1.In the case the Navigation Frame is visible, select the desired shape from the Shapes section and drag-and-drop it into the view.

 

or

 

1.Right-click on an empty area on the view.
2.Expand the Add Shape submenu in the pop-up menu that opens.
3.Select the desired shape type from the list. The list contains all shape types defined for the view settings.

 

 

Modifying Layouts of Individual Shapes

In addition to using shape types, the layout can be customized also for individual shapes already placed in the Scorecard View or the Strategy Map View. To modify the layout of a single shape, follow the steps below:

 

1.Right-click on the selected shape.
2.Select Symbol Layout from the pop-up menu. The Symbol Layout window opens.
3.Remove the check mark from the "Use shape type's default symbol layout" checkbox and make the desired changes to the symbol.
4.Click the OK button.

 

 

Removing Shapes

To remove a shape from the Scorecard View or the Strategy Map View, follow the steps below:

 

1.Right-click on the desired shape.
2.Select Remove Shape from the pop-up menu.
3.The shape is now removed from the view.
