Base scorecards are scorecards whose selected attributes can be utilized by attached (i.e. derived) scorecards. Base scorecards make maintenance of larger models easier since changes affecting many or all scorecards can be applied easily. Scorecards can also be chained with the base scorecard functionality. For example, scorecard A is a base scorecard for scorecard B (B is derived from A), and scorecard B is a base scorecard for scorecard C (C is derived from B). Now a change made to scorecard A can easily be applied to both scorecards B and C as well. Note that changes are never applied to attached scorecards automatically. All changes must be applied explicitly instead. See the Using Base Scorecards section for more information about using the base scorecard functionality.
