Tasks described below allow you to use base scorecards effectively.

Attaching a Base Scorecard

To define a base scorecard for a scorecard:

1.Open the Scorecard Properties window
2.Go to the Definition tab.
3.Click the browse button btn_browse to open a view for selecting a base scorecard.
4.To apply inheritable attributes from the base scorecard, click the Apply button.

Attaching Derived Scorecards

To attach scorecards to a scorecard (i.e. to make the scorecard the base scorecard of the attached scorecards):

1.Open the Scorecard Properties window, go to the Attached Scorecards tab.
2.Click the Add... to open a view for selecting scorecards to be attached. To select multiple scorecards, you can either hold the Ctrl key down and select all desired scorecards or you can select a range of scorecards by clicking on the range's first scorecard, pressing down the Shift key and clicking the range's last scorecard.
3.The scorecards are now attached.

Applying Parameters to Attached Scorecards

To define parameters that attached scorecards inherit and apply the parameters to the attached scorecards:

1.Open the Scorecard Properties window
2.After verifying that the scorecard has attached scorecards, go to the Inheritance tab.
3.Check all the attributes you wish to apply to the attached scorecards.
4.A) To apply the parameters to all attached scorecards, click the Apply button.

B) To apply the parameters only to selected attached scorecards:

1.Go to the Attached Scorecards tab.
2.Select the scorecard(s) you wish to apply the parameters to. To select multiple scorecards, you can either hold the Ctrl key down and select all desired scorecards or you can select a range of scorecards by clicking on the range's first scorecard, pressing down the Shift key and clicking the range's last scorecard.
3.Click the Apply button.

Note that only those measures that have the same measure identifiers are considered linked and can therefore inherit attributes from a base scorecard. For example, if a base scorecard has a measure with the identifier MEASURE001, and that measure is changed, then the Apply procedure described above updates the selected attributes to measures with MEASURE001 identifier in the linked scorecards.

Applying Base Scorecard's Parameters to a Scorecard

To apply parameters from a base scorecard to an attached scorecard:

1.Open the Scorecard Properties window.
2.Go to the Definition tab.
3.Click the Apply button (providing that a base scorecard has been defined).

See the Applying Parameters to Attached Scorecards section for an explanation about which parameters are applied.

Enabling automatic referencing is also highly useful with base scorecards. Automatic referencing can be enabled for different elements in the Drill Down tab of the Element Properties window.
