Before creating elements in your model, you must define the element types to be used in the model. Element types provide general categories by which elements with similar characteristics can be grouped. For instance, elements of the type "Perspective" could include the following elements: Financial, Customer, Learning & Innovation, Processes, etc.
To work with element types, select Modeling Options on the Model tab of the ribbon. In the Element types tab of the Modeling Options window, you can create new element types, delete obsolete ones, copy element types from other models as well as edit the properties of existing element types. The default element types of the program are Top Element and Measure. However, you have considerable freedom when defining your model's element types.
