There are two special formatting methods available for use in scorecard and element names and descriptions. You can insert forced line breaks and soft hyphenations into the texts. The forced line breaks are shown in the Element Properties window and Scorecard Properties window as <br/> and soft hyphenations are displayed in the same windows as &shy;. The difference between the two methods is that when using <br/>, the line break is always active but with &shy; the line break is active only when the element name has so many characters that it does not fit into the element size in question.

 

In the element description fields you can insert a linefeed also by pressing the Enter key. The actual effect of the formatting tags can be seen in the Hierarchy View and the Dashboards in both QPR Portal and the QPR Metrics client and in the Navigator, Analysis, and Element View in QPR Portal regarding the element description. Forced line break forces the text to be cut and a new line started at the breakpoint in these views. Soft hyphenation behaves so that the text is cut into a new line and a hyphen is displayed at the breakpoint.

 

 

Adding forced line breaks

To create a forced line break into a scorecard's or element's name or description, press the Enter key with the Shift key held down simultaneously, i.e. Shift + Enter. In the description field also plain Enter inserts a linefeed.

 

 

Adding soft hyphenations

To add a soft hyphenation point into a scorecard's or element's name or description, press the - key with the Ctrl key held down simultaneously, i.e. Ctrl + "-".

 

 

Note: In the case you are using some other keyboard layout than the Western keyboard, the instructions given above about soft hyphenations do not apply. For example, to enter the soft hyphenation (&shy;) using the Russian or Japanese keyboard, press the - key with the Ctrl key and the Shift key held down simultaneously, i.e. Ctrl + Shift + "-".
