Scroll and Zoom Diagram

Scroll Prev Top Next More

The diagram shown in the window can be scrolled using the vertical and the horizontal scrollbars of the diagram window respectively. In addition to the scrollbars you can use the arrow keys, mouse wheel, touchpad and the Move ribbon tool for scrolling the diagram. With the mouse wheel or by moving two fingers on touchpad you can scroll both horizontally and vertically. Scrolling with the mouse wheel alone scrolls the view vertically, and using the mouse wheel with the Shift key pressed down scrolls the view horizontally. Moving two fingers on touchpad vertically or horizontally scrolls the view accordingly. The Move tool can be selected from the Home ribbon's Editing group. While the Move tool is selected and the mouse pointer is over an empty part of the canvas, the mouse cursor is shown as a hand. The left mouse button can then be pressed down and the mouse moved in order to move the diagram. Moving the diagram can be stopped by releasing the left mouse button. The scrolling area is limited to half of the model's size outside the model. The modeling area grows every time the model size grows, for example after creating new objects. This way you will not run out of drawing space. If the diagram does not contain any objects, scroll bars are disabled. By default the diagram is positioned in the middle of the drawing area in order to allow flexible expanding of the diagram into any direction.

For zooming you can use either:

BTN_ZOOM_SIZES Zoom factor drop down list

btn_zoom_slider Zoom factor slider. Quickly access any zoom size between 10% and 200%. Double-click the slider to scale the diagram to fit into the window.

btn_decrease_zoom Decrease zoom factor. Each click of this button decreases zoom by 10% and moves the slider accordingly.

btn_increase_zoom Increase zoom factor. Each click of this button increases zoom by 10% and moves the slider accordingly.

btn_zoom_fit_to_screen Fit to screen. Clicking this button will show the whole diagram in the window.

Mouse wheel: Hold the Ctrl key down and scroll up to zoom in or scroll down to zoom out.

If you want to view the diagram in a smaller size, select Point and zoom out tool and click on the diagram at a center for zooming out. Alternatively drag the zoom factor slider to the left from the current position.

If you want to adjust zooming to a certain percentage use the Zoom factor drop down list. You can either select one of the predefined factors from the drop down list or type in your own percentage. The zoom factor must be between 10 and 1 000 %. Use Whole diagram to quickly show the whole diagram in the window.

With the zoom factor slider you can quickly access any zoom size between 10% and 200%. Just press the mouse button down over the slider and drag it to the desired position. The diagram is updated in real time while the mouse button is pressed, so you can easily find the optimal size without additional attempts.
